Abhishek Bachchan Profile Acting Career

Abhishek made a good start with 'Refugee' along side Kareena Kapoor in 2000. Although the film didn't do well, his work was praised. The movie earned him nominations for several awards like 2000's most promising debut performer. The same year, he did couple of movies 'Dhai Akshar Prem Ke' and 'Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya'. But the films failed to make a commercial success.

In his early career, media raised a question that 'whether Abhishek copying his father?' Well on this note, actor Sunil Shetty said, "He is very much his own actor."

"Of course, there are moments when he is his father's son, but that's not because he's been influenced, it's more due to the fact that it's in his genes, both from his father as well as his mother."

In the starting days, Abhishek struggled lot to make a hit. In 2001, Abhishek appeared in 'Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai'. Followed by it, he did 'Om Jai Jagadish', 'Desh' and 'Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya' in 2002. None of these films made big at box-office. His character as Prem Kumar in 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003)' along with Kareena Kapoor earned him a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor nomination. In 2003, he also did three other movies: 'Zameen', 'Kuch Naa Kaho', and LOC- Kargil. Again these movies made disappointments for Abhishek. Although the movies are not working well, Abhishek's work was being appreciated.

Year 2004 was turned out as good year for Abhishek. His role as a bad guy Lallan in Mani Ratnam's 'Yuva' was received well by the critics as well as the audience. 'Yuva' earned him several awards as supporting actor at many award functions like Filmfare, Star Screen and IIFA. The same year had given a major hit 'Dhoom'. 'Dhoom' was one of the commercial successes of that year. Abhishek also won the Zee Cine Award as Best Supporting Actor for 'Phir Milenge (2004)'. Umrao Jaan along with Aishwarya Rai was proved to be a disappointment, but the other two were declared as the year's biggest hits. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna received well in India but made good business overseas. His role inthe film earned him his third Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. 'Dhoom 2' was the biggest hit of 2006.

Abhishek, Abhi or Junior B gave his first solo hit with 'Guru' in 2007. In 'Guru' he was accompanied by Aishwarya Rai. Soon after the completion of film, they both get married on April 20, 2007.
